Michal Żelazowski “in Italy to realize my dream of becoming a professional cyclist”

Like the great teams, we follow the young talents of our sport with great pleasure and enthusiasm. Michal Żelazowski has just returned from a Paris Roubaix Junior negatively characterized by a puncture in the final when he was in the leading group and ready to fight for the victory in the velodrome: “Punching a wheel in the final of such an important race canceled my chances of winning the race, but I’m not giving up and I’ll try to make up for it in the next races ”, This is his laconic comment at the end of the French test. We are sure that in the future we will often hear about Michal who is now racing in Italy in the Energy Team and let’s get to know him together

Hi Michal, how did the possibility of racing in Italy come about?

In the final of last season I made some good placings in the Saarland Trophy in Germany and at Philippe Gilbert Junior and the Energy Team managers contacted me asking if I was available to move, I accepted and I came to race in Italy

How are you?

At the beginning it was difficult for the language, I’m still learning it but it is much better. I am young, I like to have new experiences and it is not easy without my family. But here they welcomed me very well, I have a second family, I live near Lake Como and it’s a wonderful place, the lake and the mountains. The thing that surprised me is to see so many people passionate about cycling, it doesn’t happen in Poland.

Tell us about your experiences last year with the national team at the World Championships in Belgium

Before the world championships I participated in a 6-race event in Belgium and I was amazed by the large number of participants. The world championship was a very tough race, with narrow roads and everyone who wanted to stay in front. Unfortunately after a few kilometers I was involved in a fall and I had to chase the group alone for 10 kilometers. Then I paid for this effort and in the end I had no more energy.

Your seasonal goals

I do not set myself limits, I want to do well and play for the chances of success in the most important races and I would like to be part of the national team in the most important events which are the European and the World Cup. I have to take advantage of the opportunity to race in Italy to level up, be more and more competitive to find a good team to grow and achieve my dream of becoming a professional cyclist.
